My Story

Hello, my name is kathrynn. I was born and raised in El Paso, TX and I am a senior at Montwood high school, graduating in June of 2023. Growing up I have always been close with my mom. She was a young single mother working multiple jobs to provide for me and my siblings. One of the careers she endured was as an EMT paramedic. She worked for a small private company so she often brought me along with her to work when she had no one to watch my siblings and I. Her coworkers would always tell us stories about their calls and this is where I learned that I also wanted to be in the medical field. My mom being one of my biggest inspirations also played a big part in this, and although she never fully got to accomplish her dreams she pushes me every day to accomplish mine, and she's doing everything in her power to help me do so. In high school, I was accepted and enrolled in the Synergi T-STEM program, where my endorsement was Biomed. Here I was able to explore different possible careers in the medical field. After graduating I will continue a career in the medical field by becoming a pediatrics nurse practitioner.

Some of my Sucess
- One of the biggest accomplishments I have is acquiring a certification as an Electrocardiogram technician in High School. While taking this class I was exposed to dealing with real patients and given hands-on experience. With this, I will be able to have my first step into the medical field and be able to gain more experience. - Another accomplishment I am proud of is the recent completion of my PLTW Biomedical Interventions endorsement class. This year as a senior project my partner and I came up with the innovative idea of what we called the "Nurse Robot". This was a year-long project and we got a score of 4 throughout the project.
My Strengths
One of my strengths includes my ability to be a team player as well as a leader. In High School being a part of the color guard team iI was put in various situations where I had to work with my teammates to perform in shows and competitions. During my participation in the team, I was given multiple roles as a leader to not only help teach my teammates chorography but lead them in situations before and during competitions. During my three years on the team, I had to be able to handle the rest of my coursework in school. This shows my skill in being able to multitask and dedicate myself to multiple things. To juggle everything I had to have good time management and be able to keep myself from being stressed. Staying calm under pressure would be another one of my strengths, which is extremely important when going into the medical field.

My future
My short-term goals consist of finishing off my basics at El Paso community college while working as an EKG techniction to help me pay for school, and then transferring to a university to finish my nursing degree. After I finish my degree I will want to work as a travel nurse to gain experience, then eventually go back to school to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I hope to do this for a few years and another big dream of mine is to go back to school to become a lawyer. I dont want to limit myself to only one career in my life so when I feel I am ready to leave nursing, I will go to become a lawyer. :)
